What is rhinoplasty?

Nose surgery, also known as rhinoplasty, is a nose-reshaping procedure performed to improve the shape and function of the nose. Each nose is completely unique and requires a personalized approach. Dr. Lee was trained by one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in this world. She is also the award winner for the 2015 Rollin Daniels award for the best rhinoplasty presentation.

What is Dr. Lee’s approach to rhinoplasty?

Dr. Lee believes there’s not one standard for an aesthetically pleasing nose. The best nose for you is the nose that fits your face. During your consultation with Dr. Lee at PERK Plastic Surgery in Los Angeles, we will determine the reason for changing your nose.

Most patients want to improve noses that:

  • Are not proportionate to the rest of the face
  • Have bulbous, drooping or upturned tips
  • Have large or flared nostrils
  • Have residual flaws from a previous surgery
  • Have a deviated septum

What are the benefits of a rhinoplasty?

  • Achieve your nasal aesthetic goals
  • Improvement in nasal function and breathing
  • Long-lasting results
  • A natural appearance to the nose
  • Greater harmony and balance among the features
  • Correct symmetry

What are the different options for rhinoplasty?

Dr. Lee will decide with you on the best approach for your needs after your confidential Beverly Hills consultation.

Closed rhinoplasty

This procedure can be performed under twilight anesthesia or general anesthesia, and is an excellent option for those concerned about scarring and postoperative swelling. All the incisions are made within the nose, so there are no visible scars afterwards.

Open rhinoplasty

This approach gives the surgeon the most flexibility and room to make changes. It is performed under general anesthesia or twilight sedation. The incision is well hidden beneath the nose.

Septo-rhinoplasty

Septoplasty to improve a deviated septum is often combined with rhinoplasty to fix aesthetic issues. Here, you get the best of both worlds. Septo-rhinoplasty helps to refine the architecture of the nose on both the inside and the outside.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty

For those who do not wish to undergo a surgical procedure with its longer downtimes and higher risks, a non-surgical rhinoplasty may be the best choice. It can be performed with dermal fillers and injectables to reshape a nasal hump, improve the tip or hide other flaws. Just bear in mind that results are short term and not as sustainable as with a surgical rhinoplasty.

What is the recovery like?

Bruising and swelling around eyelids and nose are normal for several days after nose surgery. You will have a nasal splint and possibly an internal splint for 7-10 days. Dr. Lee customizes a recovery plan for you to soothe any discomfort.
