What is Daxxify?

A new arrival on the market from Revance Therapeutics, DAXXIFY is a neuromodulator which is designed to address various signs of facial aging, such as frown lines and wrinkles. What sets DAXXIFY apart from other wrinkle relaxers is its duration. While other neuromodulators usually yield results that last somewhere around 3 months, DAXXIFY results have been found to last around 6 months. DAXXIFY’s primary function is to prevent the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that induces contraction of the facial muscles. When DAXXIFY is administered to the face, the facial muscles are able to relax, ultimately alleviating signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles, and folds––thus resulting in smoother, more youthful appearing skin.

What does the procedure involve?

We then use an ultra-fine needle to administer the injections into the face. Since this needle is small and doesn’t cause much discomfort, topical anesthetics are usually not required. However, patients can request an anesthetic if they wish. There is minimal downtime with DAXXIFY, meaning that patients are able to get back to their regular routines almost immediately following the treatment.

What to expect after receiving DAXXIFY injections

While DAXXIFY injections come with minimal downtime, it is possible for patients to experience some side effects following the procedure. These may include issues such as slight swelling, bruising, or tenderness around the treatment sites. That said, these effects are virtually unnoticeable to onlookers and will fade away within a few days.

It is imperative that patients avoid rubbing, touching, or scratching the treated areas after the procedure. It is also vital that patients avoid all sources of intense heat (jacuzzis and spas) and refrain from strenuous activity (exercise) for the first 4 hours following the treatment.
