What is BOTOX®?

What is BOTOX® treatment like?

After a careful analysis of your face and numbing if necessary, the actual injection portion of the BOTOX® takes less than 30 minutes. You will be able to return immediately to your normal routine. Results will be evident in about 1-2 weeks and last around 3 months.

Microbotox Skin Rejuvenation

How does BOTOX® for migraines work?

In 2010, the FDA approved BOTOX® for migraines in those 18 or older, and ever since then many patients have been enjoying relief from chronic, debilitating migraine headache with BOTOX® injections. Dr. Lee was the lead author in the study that showed patients who respond to BOTOX® injections also did well with migraine surgery. Chronic migraines mean an intense and long-lasting headache for more than 15 days per month.

BOTOX® is injected to paralyze the muscles that compress the nerve endings on your head that trigger migraines.

How often will I need BOTOX® for migraines?

Most clients will require 2-3 sessions in order to experience comprehensive improvement in their migraines. Our Los Angeles BOTOX for headaches results usually last up to 12 weeks at a time. Patients in a clinical trial reported that just 2 BOTOX® treatments helped diminish the number of headache days to half its original number. At PERK Plastic surgery, we will obtain a detailed history of your migraine headaches and require our patients to be under the care of a neurologist.

After completely understanding the triggers of your migraines, the typical BOTOX® injections for headaches lasts no more than 20 minutes. The BOTOX® will be injected into your headache trigger sites, usually your forehead, temples and back of your neck. The injections are usually described as feeling like a “pinprick”. Depending on the number of trigger sites, up to 31 injections can be performed in a single session.
