Accessory breast tissue, also known as side breast tissue, side boob fat, or an “armpit roll", can create discomfort and/or poor self-confidence. It may also undermine the overall aesthetic of the breasts.
Women often find bulging side breast tissue unsightly in sleeveless clothing. This excess fat or breast tissue is often hereditary and may not respond at all to changes in diet or exercise. Furthermore, the extra breast tissue can also cause soreness.
Depending on the severity of accessory breast tissue, Dr. Lee in Los Angeles can perform liposuction or an excision to help reshape the axillary or armpit contour. She will make minimal incisions that are well-hidden within the natural folds of the armpit.

“My experience with Dr. Lee and her patient coordinator was wonderful! They both spent time to answer my questions, they made me feel comfortable and explained the procedure to me in detail so that I knew what to expect. Dr. Lee genuinely cares about my concerns and spent time with me during my post follow-up.”

Accessory breast tissue removal can be done either under local or general anesthesia, depending on the amount of tissue to be removed. Dr. Lee will always hide the scar within the armpit if possible. Side boob fat removal is an outpatient procedure and takes an average of 1-2 hours.
Thanks to Dr. Lee’s conservative and nuanced approach, you can expect an expedited and straightforward recovery process. You will typically return to normal activities such as work and school within about one week, while holding off on strenuous exercise for about 3-4 weeks post procedure.
Post-operative swelling should begin to subside around 2 weeks. A compression dressing will be provided to help contour the area.
