How is Plasma rejuvenation different from a laser treatment?

Unlike a laser treatment, the interaction of the device’s nitrogen plasma with your skin tissue is what is termed “non–chromophore dependent.” This means that in skin smoothing and tightening, it does not rely upon interacting with chromophores, the part of a molecule that gives it its color.

Instead, it delivers predictable and fully controlled energy to the skin’s deeper architecture and does not cause the thermal damage to the surrounding tissue, which is common with an ablative laser treatment. Plasma rejuvenation is uniform, causing literally no damage to the surrounding tissue. Your skin remains fully intact following a plasma rejuvenation treatment.

What results can be achieved with plasma rejuvenation?

The results of this groundbreaking development in skin tightening include:

  • Reduced wrinkles and fine lines
  • Promotion of new collagen growth
  • Reduced visible sun damage
  • Tighter, lifted, and rejuvenated skin

What areas are targeted by the plasma pen?

The plasma pen targets the fine lines and skin laxity in the following facial areas:

  • Upper and lower lids
  • Forehead lines
  • Neck lines
  • Stretch marks
  • Loose skin
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Jowls and wrinkles around the jawline
  • Crow’s feet
  • Ear lobes

What is a Plasma Pen treatment like to experience?

The treatment is not painful, but can be slightly uncomfortable unless the area is numbed. To ensure you are as comfortable as possible, a local anesthetic cream will be applied to numb the area you choose to rejuvenate. The Plasma Pen device creates a small electrical arc of plasma energy, which is delivered to the skin to tighten the skin fibers and stimulate collagen production, creating a noticeable increase in skin tightness and a fresh, youthful quality. The device is used in a grid pattern on the area to be treated, creating tiny dots which will require about one week to clear.

What is the downtime with a Plasma Pen treatment?

The downtime is typically 1-2 weeks, as the areas where the plasma energy treated your skin will be visible for about one week. You can also expect some swelling after treatment in the eye area, which takes about 2-3 days to disappear. Tiny round scabs will form where the energy was applied and they will fall off on their own over the first week. You are then left with clear, youthful, tighter, more radiant skin.

How many treatments will I need?

One of the most exciting aspects of a plasma pen treatment is that most patients require just one treatment to achieve long-lasting results lasting three years or more! If your first treatment does not achieve the desired look, a second treatment can be performed in about three months. Typically, a repeat treatment is not needed until years later.
