Chemical peels are chemical solutions applied to the face which strip the skin of its outermost, damaged layer, revealing a more youthful, radiant and rejuvenating complexion underneath. Peels often contain glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid or carbolic acid (phenol), as well as other ingredients like extracts and antioxidants.
Anyone who is struggling with their complexion and feels unhappy with their skin’s texture, tone or blemishes may benefit from a consultation with Dr. Lee regarding chemical peels and how they can help you to feel great about your complexion. Peels are appropriate for both light and dark skinned patients, as they can be finely customized to meet your unique skincare needs and goals. The intensity of the peel is also adjusted from mild to extra strength based on your preferences. Chemical peels are often well-combined with other facial rejuvenation techniques such as dermal fillers and laser therapy.
“Very professional. She is easy to talk to and is very sensitive to my needs.”
Depending on the intensity of the chemical peel, you may experience some reactions that are similar to when you receive a sunburn. There may be facial redness and scaling which lasts up to one week. Minor swelling, crusting and blistering are all normal.
You should take care to avoid the sun for at least a few months after a chemical peel, as your new skin will be sensitive and tender. Dr. Lee will provide a full, detailed aftercare plan for you as well as follow up visits to monitor your recovery.
