About Dr. Mayer

Toby G. Mayer, M.D., F.A.C.S. is one of the Medical Directors of the Beverly Hills Institute of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has dual Board certifications and is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Mayer is a is a clinical professor and past co-Chairman of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Head and Neck Surgery, at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He has lectured at universities to surgeons in training and also allows them to observe him in surgery.

Dr. Mayer has been performing surgery for transgendered patients for more than 25 years. His goals and results are beautiful – not surgical in appearance. His patients have traveled from all over the world to consult with and have their surgeries done here. As a recognized leader in hair replacement surgery, Dr. Mayer co-directed the International Symposium on Hair Replacement Surgery for six years. He has published numerous papers on innovations to the revolutionary flap techique for permanent hair replacement, and has contributed to many leading textbooks on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. The plastic surgery textbook which he co-authored with Dr. Richard Fleming, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Scalp, is in publication. Dr. Mayer and Dr. Fleming have also published a book entitled The Everyman's Guide to Hair Replacement, which is aimed at those who wish to learn more about the many different hair replacement solutions available.
