Scalp Reductions are an important adjunctive procedure when doing hair replacement surgery. With Scalp Reductions, surgeons surgically remove parts of the bald or thinning skin, and then stretch the surrounding thicker, hair-bearing scalp to close the defect in the area from which the bald skin was removed. With the Flap procedure, reductions are done between the Flaps and behind the second Flap, to maximize the coverage of the Flap procedure. The baldness is always removed between the two Flaps. Sometimes, with more extensive baldness, there is residual baldness within the vertex, or crown, behind the second Flap. Other Beverly Hills scalp reduction patients will choose to have Reductions behind the second Flap, and eliminate more or all of their baldness.
